Mapping Confidence Levels
Overview
Hotel Mapping at HSP involves a detailed and straightforward process.
We manage a large volume of information from different suppliers and providers. Our method is thorough, combining data already in our system with data from various suppliers. Suppliers must first map their HotelIDs, which HSP then aligns with our unique Gimmonix HotelIDs.
This involves several steps like normalizing data, comparing information, and assigning a confidence score to gauge the mapping's precision.
Every property from suppliers is meticulously examined in our system, considering factors like the hotel's name, address, coordinates, star rating, and others. Discrepancies in these details with other providers or our records lead to a lower confidence score for the property's profile or mapping.
Mapping Confidence Levels
As mentioned earlier, every property integrated into our system is assigned a "Confidence Level" score.
All profiles have the same number of hotels, However - the difference lies in the number of connected suppliers per hotel.
Confident Level | Description |
---|---|
Strict / Confident Only | This represents the highest level of confidence. Properties that receive this score perfectly match the hotel's name, address, and other key components, aligning precisely with the information provided by other suppliers or the data already in our records. |
Medium Level | The medium confidence level applies to hotels that are mostly matching but not entirely. For example, a property may receive this score due to differences in Hotel's name, address, brand, and so on. |
Low Level | The medium confidence level applies to hotels that are mostly matching but not entirely. For example, a property may receive this score due to differences in Hotel's name, address, brand, and so on. |
Not Verified | This category does not represent a confidence level. It's important to note that some hotels are labeled as "Not Verified" because there is no reliable data available, and there are discrepancies in all parameters. |
Confidence Level - configuration
All clients are automatically granted the highest level of confidence, labeled as "Confident Only".
NOTE:
If you wish to set the mapping confidence level to Medium or Low, please reach out to our support team.
How 'Confidence Level' affects the results
Each client is set up with a specific Confidence Level, and each level has pros and cons, along with trade-offs.
1. Error Likelihood
While there is always a slight chance of errors or mismatches in hotel information, the likelihood increases with lower confidence levels.
Essentially, as the confidence level decreases, the probability of encountering inaccuracies or discrepancies in hotel data increases.
Confidence Level | Avg Error/Mismatch Rate |
---|---|
Strict / Confident Only | 0.0049% |
Medium Level | 0.0062% |
Low Level | 0.0018 - 0.0062% |
2. Properties coverage
The configured confidence level dictates the properties returned in the results returned by the HSP Hotels API.
Essentially, as the confidence level decreases, the coverage of the returned properties in the API responses increases.
For example, the strict profile offers fewer suppliers compared to the low & medium levels.
This variation can impact various functions like dynamic markups, SmartBook, Rebooker, and more as fewer properties coverage is in place.
Confidence Level | Properties coverage |
---|---|
Strict / Confident Only | 28,482,712 sources (67.5%) |
Medium Level | 36,183,987 sources (85.8%) |
Low Level | 36,768,436 sources (87.2%) |
Not Verified | 42,165,040 sources (100%) |
HSP's recommendation
HSP recommendation is: 'Medium' confidence level.
This particular level strikes an effective balance between the likelihood of errors and the extent of property coverage.
